La Boca is one of the most characteristic neighborhoods of Buenos Aires and the one receiving the largest quantity of visitors. Caminito passage, with its colorful houses and the Boca Juniors Stadium are both icons of the La Boca neighborhood and the city of Buenos Aires. At first, La Boca was mainly inhabited by Italian immigrants.
The route through this neighborhood starts in Lezama Park. Walk along Almirante Brown Avenue and you will see the Scenographic Great Wall, with characters from all times. Go along this Avenue until Casa Amarilla (Yellow House), which replicates the house where Guillermo Brown Admiral lived. Some meters from that point, on Necochea Street, lies Nuestra señora de los Inmifrantes Church. Turn into Brandsen streen and at 800 you will come across the Boca Juniors field, well known as the “Bombonera”. There is also the Pasión Boquense Museum, recreating the whole history of the club. Take Del Valle Iberlucea Street. Walk as far as Pedro de Mendoza Avenue go rounding the Riachuelo.
This corner is known as Vuelta de Rocha. In this point, the Caminito Street begins. It only has 100 meters, but it has become into an open sky museum. It has been name this way by the artist Benito Quinquela Martín. Walk along Pedro de Mendoza Avenue as far as 1835 where the Pedro de Mendoza school and the Quinquela Martín museum are located. This land was donated by the artist for the construction of a school and an Argentine Art museum. It has been house and workshop of the painter. Some meters ahead, on the corner of Almirante Brown and Pedro de Mendoza Avenues, you can see the former Shuttle Bridge joining the City of Buenos Aires with the city of Avellaneda.
